Working Out on Vacation

Today’s blog post will offer tips on how to stay fit while on vacation or business travel. We will also discuss how Buy and Sell Fitness can help hoteliers accommodate the fitness needs of their guests.

Unfortunately, there may be a time when you arrive at a location only to realize that they don’t have a fitness center. Doing something, however, is better than doing nothing. Here are a few ways you can still work out without a fitness center.

Pack it up. Judi Sheppard Missett from Jazzercise tells readers to pack it up. Simply take a resistance band, jump rope or any other piece of easily portable fitness equipment with you. Jumping rope burns more calories than walking or jogging and can help improve your cardiovascular health.

Use the pool. Swimming has a number of health benefits. It is also an enjoyable way to squeeze in a workout while you’re out lounging by the pool. You can practice water walking or water aerobics in addition to swimming laps.

Use your bodyweight. Men’s Fitness has a list of bodyweight exercises like pushups, seagulls and squats that you can do inside your hotel room.

There are many ways to work around not having a fitness center. But as guests become more health conscious, the best thing for hotels to do is elevate their amenities. ‘Wellness Tourism’ represents a 439 billion dollar market. Guests don’t want to work around their fitness routines while on vacation, they’d rather have access to state of the art facilities and classes. Numbers don’t lie. According to the American Lodging & Hotel Association, hotels with fitness centers/gyms are up 63% from 2004.

Some hotels like Hilton Hotels and Resorts, allow guests to rent larger rooms that include fitness equipment. For example, at the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner in Virginia, ‘Yoga Rooms’ come with yoga mats, yoga blocks and exercise balls. The George Hotel in Washington D.C. has a 24 hour fitness center! Each room comes with a yoga mat and offers guests complimentary classes at the fitness center.

More and more, hoteliers are realizing that keeping fit is important to their guests. At Buy and Sell Fitness, we can help you create a fitness center that will keep your guests fit and happy without breaking your budget.

Our Cybex Gym ‘Value’ Package, for example, includes all the essentials to open up a fitness center from one of the top manufacturers. All of the equipment is reconditioned, serviced and cleaned. We also offer Strength Circuits and Cardio Packages.

Buy and Sell Fitness also offers services all over the world. So, it doesn’t matter whether you’re on the West Coast of the United States, the Caribbean or even Asia! We ship worldwide and will assist you in exploring the best options for your own used gym equipment needs.

Remember hoteliers, guests are looking for travel experiences that won’t obstruct their workout routines. Adding a new fitness center, may be the answer to keeping your guests content and coming back. And to those doing the traveling, don’t fret if your hotel or resort doesn’t have fitness equipment. Packing your own portable equipment, using the pool and/or your own bodyweight to exercise are just a few ways you can keep up with your routine.
